As the BYD Seal U vehicle parc grows across Europe, collision and body repair is becoming an important part of the model's aftermarket.
Unlike routine service items, body components do not need a vehicle to be old before demand appears. A relatively new vehicle can require a door, bumper, headlight, wing or tailgate after an accident at any point in its life.
For parts buyers, however, the Seal U presents an identification challenge.
The European Seal U, Chinese-market Song Plus and different EV / DM-i versions share the SA3 vehicle family, but that does not mean every lamp, panel or bumper reference is universal.
For British vehicles in particular, workshops should remember that the UK Seal U is a right-hand-drive DM-i plug-in hybrid.
Some body references are already well established in the UK aftermarket.
Current UK listings for the Seal U DM-i include:
Part | OE Reference |
|---|---|
Front left door shell | SA3F-6101010/70 |
Front right door shell | SA3F-6101019/70 |
Rear left door shell | SA3F-6201010/70 |
byd-seal-u-front-door-sa3f-6101010-70
byd-seal-u-rear-door-sa3f-6201010-70
These are good examples of Song Plus references that have carried across into European Seal U sourcing.
But even with a confirmed door-shell OE, the quotation still needs to clarify what is actually included.
A door shell may be supplied without:
glass;
window regulator;
wiring harness;
lock;
handle;
speaker;
exterior mirror;
interior trim.
"Complete door" and "door shell" should therefore never be treated as interchangeable descriptions.
Lighting is more complicated.
Our current Song Plus catalogue includes references such as:
SA3F-4121010B
SA3F-4121020B
These are useful Song Plus references, but public catalogues commonly associate the B-suffix versions with EV applications.
DM-i catalogues show other suffixes, including C and E variants, while current UK Seal U DM-i listings also show later European references such as:
Front left LED headlight — SA3HK-4121010D
Front right LED headlight — SA3HK-4121020A
byd-seal-u-headlight-sa3f-4121010b
This is why a workshop should not order a lamp simply because the housing looks identical in a product photo.
Before quoting a Seal U headlight, check:
VIN;
original lamp OE;
left or right side;
LHD or RHD;
destination market;
connector design;
control modules;
mounting points;
production revision.
For UK enquiries, we strongly recommend sending a photo of the complete original label.
The same principle applies to rear lamps.
The Song Plus / Seal U family contains multiple tail-lamp references and revisions. A current UK DM-i catalogue, for example, uses later SA3HKU references for some rear lamps.
Our broader Song Plus catalogue includes references such as:
SA3F-4133010L
SA3F-4133020L
SA3F-4107300L
These should be used as catalogue search references rather than as universal UK fitment claims.
For a damaged lamp, also check whether the customer requires:
outer lamp;
tailgate-mounted inner lamp;
centre light section;
mounting bracket;
harness;
control module.
Large exterior panels are commercially straightforward products but logistically more demanding.
The Song Plus family includes doors, wings, bonnet panels, tailgates, fender liners and related trim.
One important example of model evolution is the bonnet.
Earlier Song Plus catalogues contain SA3F-family bonnet references, while current UK Seal U DM-i listings show later references such as:
Bonnet / hood panel — SA3HK-8402010/70
byd-seal-u-hood-sa3f-8402010
That difference reinforces a broader rule:
A similar panel name does not guarantee an identical OE reference across every Song Plus / Seal U generation.
For exterior panels, workshops should also confirm whether they need:
bare metal panel;
primed panel;
complete assembly;
hinges;
latch;
reinforcement;
insulation;
trim or mouldings.
A "front bumper" enquiry can mean several different things.
Depending on accident damage, the customer may need:
bumper cover;
reinforcement;
side brackets;
lower trim;
grille;
air-guide pieces;
wheel-arch extensions;
sensor brackets;
tow-eye cover.

For modern vehicles, the visible bumper skin may also interact with parking sensors, cameras or driver-assistance hardware.
That means a photo of the damaged area can be more useful than a vague description such as "front bumper complete".
When a customer sends a collision enquiry, we recommend asking for:
VIN + wide photo of the damaged vehicle + close-up photos + OE numbers of reusable original parts where visible.
Not every body component changes between left-hand-drive and right-hand-drive cars.
A door skin or wing may be common across markets.
Other components are more sensitive.
Extra attention should be paid to:
headlights and beam specification;
steering-related components;
dashboard and cabin trim;
wiring;
mirrors and camera functions;
ADAS mounting and calibration-related parts.
Because the UK is one of the strongest European markets for Chinese vehicles, RHD enquiries are commercially important — but they should not be solved by assuming an LHD part is identical.
Hella Auto can handle enquiries for both LHD and RHD markets. The correct route is simply to identify the vehicle before quotation.
Body panels and lighting require a different shipping approach from smaller mechanical parts.
Large panels are vulnerable to:
edge damage;
bending;
surface dents;
cracked mounting tabs;
lens scratching;
pressure damage during consolidation.
For that reason, shipping options should be confirmed according to the exact part, order quantity and destination.
We do not present historical catalogue records as current stock or promise a fixed delivery time on the article page.
Once the required references are confirmed, the appropriate supply and packing option can be discussed in the quotation.
Our online catalogue does not need to contain every possible Seal U reference for us to help with an enquiry.
If a workshop, bodyshop or distributor cannot find the required part online, send:
VIN;
OE number if available;
original-part photos;
accident-area photos;
quantity;
destination country.
We can check the available sourcing channels for both Seal U DM-i and EV, as well as left-hand-drive and right-hand-drive requirements.
Some door-shell references are already confirmed in current UK Seal U DM-i catalogues, including SA3F-6101010/70 and SA3F-6101019/70. Other components should still be checked by VIN.
Do not assume so. Headlight OE suffixes differ between EV, DM-i and later European versions. UK RHD beam specification is another reason to verify the original lamp.
Not necessarily. The included content varies by product and supply source. Specify exactly what components are required when requesting a quotation.
We accept enquiries for both. Because some components are market-specific, send the VIN, destination country and original-part information for confirmation.
Yes, unlisted references can still be checked through our sourcing channels. Send the OE number, VIN or original-part photos.
Send the VIN, OE number and original-part / damage photos with your enquiry. We can help check the appropriate Song Plus / Seal U reference before quotation.
